"David Girard was introduced to us by Rod and Jane B. whose home he had designed and constructed. We had the opportunity to watch their dream home come to life, and we have had numerous visits there during the years and have seen David's work exceed the test of time! As soon as we met David, we were impressed with his willingness to take time to understand exactly what we wanted to achieve with our new construction. Our project started as a plan to convert a living room into a bedroom and add a bath. It evolved as a master bedroom/bath addition. From the outset and through the whole process he listened to ideas, translated them into design and offered numerous insights and practical suggestions, all the while totally respecting our decisions. We are extremely pleased with the quality and beauty of our new addition. Our home is approximately 70 years old. As we progressed with the construction David was an excellent resource in solving a whole set of problems that emerged, such as cracked chimney flues, aging oil tanks, and an ongoing leaking roof in an area of the house. He sat and presented options for us to deal with the problems. He then organized the sub-contractors, from chimney repair to sheet rocking, in a timely and orderly manner. David carefully supervised the excavator, roofers, electricians and plumbers and ensured the highest quality of materials and work. He added some features which at a future date we can incorporate. As an example, the water heater is wired for solar panels if we wish to install them. Overall he drew on his previous experiences in designing the electrical wiring and switching, windows placement and size, and interior design such as a beamed ceiling. When we purchased a whirlpool for the bathroom, he was conscious of the placement of the fixtures so they would allow easy access to the tub. His attention to detail is outstanding. We now thoroughly enjoy the addition to our home and have a sense of pride in the convenience and forethought David provided to make it livable, comfortable and elegant. It was his willingness to sit with us, ask questions, and communicate his thoughts that ultimately created a great living experience which we now enjoy. We recommend David not just as someone who does good construction but as a craftsman who makes the building process an educational and enjoyable experience.
